In recent years, several major bear research projects have been conducted in the Canadian Rockies. They have employed a variety of methods and increasingly sophisticated technologies in an attempt to better understand the bears’ environment, and the nature and impacts of our human presence in it.

This section profiles several projects which have made significant contributions to bear research in the Canadian Rockies, and briefly highlights some of the recent technological and methodological advances in the world of bear research.
