Hot Nights at the Columbia Icefield

Are summers warmer?
Yes - especially at night. At the Columbia Icefields, day-time temperatures rose by 0.6°C per century. Nights warmed by 1.5°C per century.

Why are the nights warmer?
We aren't sure. It may be because of increased cloudiness. Clouds act as a blanket. They trap and reflect heat that rises from warm ground.
